  After seeing our daughter for a check-up and cleaning, we made an appointment for a filling. The day of our appt, we received a call rescheduling with a different dentist (ours had left the office permanently). We were assured that the new dentist was skilled with children, and could do the filling. An hour+ drive later, the new dentist refused to even try. Apparently, the staff had never given him our daughters chart when the other dentist quit, and it against his policy to work on younger children. He did not see her chart or even know her age until the appointment itself. Clearly, the nurse had mis-informed us as to his willingness/ability to do the filling. When I asked for reimbursement for the 2+ hour round trip drive, since under no conditions would this new dentist have done the work, the receptionist attempted to claim our child was at fault, because she was uncooperative. She lied numerous times to my face, and when I confronted her, the dentist came out and backed ME up. Our child was well behaved, it was his decision, he said outright. The receptionist became very upset and condescending, asking if we wanted re-imbursement from her wallet personally. She became more aggressive until I was forced to leave, she was so aggressive and belligerent. I was nearly in tears. We have decided to make the 2-1/2 hour drive to Portland, rather than EVER return to Tyack. I would not recommend this dentist office to anyone. They have done nothing but jerk us around, confuse appointment times and days, and point the finger of blame elsewhere every time. Unprofessional and poorly staffed. Find another dentist office.
